If you are throwing a large gala event or you own a company that is looking for a way to give special little memorable gifts to its clients, you might consider having some personalised chocolates made. You can find companies that will do this for you, but it may be tough to find someone local. It is slightly more difficult to accomplish this during the summer, due to the fragile nature of the chocolates, but if you can pay for overnight shipping and some ice packs, you should be able to find somebody to do this for you year-round.
Personalised chocolates sometimes refers to simple chocolate bars that are wrapped with a paper wrapper that includes your logo or information about your event, but for the purposes of this article, we are talking about actual pieces of chocolate made using chocolate molds. These molds must be made new for each customer. Standard molds are available, but in that case they are not the type of personalised item we are looking for.
The cost for making a custom mold is not inconsiderable, and that is why this type of thing would be economically feasible if you wanted to make a large number of individual chocolates. If you are a company that is looking to have these on hand regularly, it would certainly be worth the cost because once the mold is made, it is a permanent item that you can use over and over again.
The way a chocolate mold works is that it is a little tray with individual little depressions that are shaped like what you are trying to make, but in reverse. You fill up each little hole with melted chocolate, tap it on the counter to remove any trapped air bubbles, and allow the chocolates to harden. When they have solidified, simply turn the tray over and tap the chocolates out!
