Building a home gym can get very expensive, especially if you want to buy all new items and you have a lot of space to fill and a lot of items that you want. There are some great options for cheap home gyms, but you will need to probably buy used equipment, and try to find other deals so that you don’t break the bank. The first place to look is on Craigslist. If you haven’t heard of it, it is an online garage sale essentially, allowing you to find stuff that people are selling and contact them. They have a whole entire section dedicated to fitness equipment, and often times you can find awesome deals. Some of the sellers may even let you haggle the price down a bit so you may get an even better deal. Make sure that you’re ready to buy when contacting people because they won’t hold the items for long.
Another great place to look is at actual garage sales. If the gym equipment is up for sale at a garage sale, then the owner probably wants to really get rid of it, probably because it is taking up a lot of space and is hardly even used. This is great for you because they are really motivated to sell. You may be able to haggle down the price at garage sales as well, as long as you’re able to haul the items away immediately.
Lastly, you can go to your local gym and see when they sell their equipment. They are always bringing in new equipment, and they need a way to sell their old equipment. While the items will be heavily used, they are also commercial grade, so it may work out for you. These are just some of the options available, but be creative and get your cheap home gym built.
