Fixing Damaged Hair- Spa Body Treatments You can do at Home

If you are looking for a way to repair the appearance of  dull, lack luster hair, there are ways of fixing damaged hair at home. While you can never really remove the damage done to the shaft of your hair once it is done, deep conditioning can improve both the appearance and strength of your hair.  Deep conditioning is a spa body treatment you can do inexpensively at home.

How to Deep Condition Your Hair at Home

Regardless of if you choose a natural conditioner or commercial conditioner for fixing damaged hair, you will want to select a product that is very thick and heavy, and can be left on the hair for several hours.

Many women have tried natural conditioners like mayonnaise, olive oil or mashed avocado.  These natural conditioners for damaged hair are tried and true, as are essential oils which are available at your local health foods store.

Commercial conditioners for fixing damaged hair are also a good choice. Try a thick restorative conditioner or product for dry or damaged hair with extra moisturizers. These are different from the instant conditioners you are used to using in the shower when you wash your hair.

To deep condition, wash your hair as usual and squeeze out the excess water with a clean bathroom towel. Apply a liberal amount of conditioner, working your way through your damp hair with gentle circular strokes. Be sure to condition all the way from the roots, and to the very ends of the hair, being careful to keep the conditioner evenly applied. Cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic wrap to help keep the heat in. Dampen a towel in hot water and wring out. Wrap the hot towel around the head and cover with another clean, dry towel. Allow conditioner to stay on the hair for 1-2 hours, then rinse with clear warm water.

The heat from the dampened towel will help your hair to take up the conditioner. If the towel cools  during conditioning, you may want to reheat it several more times during the process for maximum conditioning.

Deep conditioning your hair is one of the easiest spa body treatments you can do to go about fixing damaged hair. It is a simple process, which is very inexpensive when done at home. Yet, the benefits are certainly easy to see after just one treatment. For best results, deep condition your hair 1 to 2 times monthly.
