Putting a Floor Mirror and Travertine Tiles in your Home:

Travertine tiles have been around for thousands of years.  Travertine is a natural substance that is part of the calcium carbonate (limestone) family.  This stone can be found in different colors naturally; it is then finished in one of four ways: polished (shiny), honed (aka matte), brushed and tumbled.  If you want the travertine tiles to be shiny, then getting the polished tiles would be the right option.  On the other hand, the tumbled ones reflect the least amount of light.  Honed tiles, as a matter of fact, are the most common.  They are flat and smooth and not textured.

When considering whether travertine tiles are the best choice, you should also consider the fact that, because of its mineral make up, travertine is very reactive to acids such as orange juice and vinegar.  While the tiles would be sealed and that provides some protection, you may want to reconsider whether these tiles are the right choice if you would be installing them in an area that has regular contact with acidic solutions.

As far as floor mirrors go, these large mirrors may make a great addition to your living room or bedroom decor. Floor mirrors make the room seem larger and brighter.  There are a number of different sizes, styles and brand names to choose from, so make sure that you choose a design and color that matches well with the style and furnishings of the room.

As far as the practicalities go, you should keep in mind not only the decor but also the dimensions of the floor mirror.  If you choose an angled or swivel one, you will need more room than a stationary mirror would take up.  Also, many floor mirrors are angled, as that allows you better visibility; such mirrors need to lean against a wall.
