Marbles floors, when done right, can be great entry pieces. Most luxurious homes have marble flooring. When making marble, you have to subject it extreme heat and pressure. Travertine is made with the same process as marble. The only difference here is that travertine isn’t exposed to the extreme heats and pressures as that of marble. This makes it hard and dense enough but not brittle.
Travertine floor tiles are great flooring for the kitchen and bathroom because they’re easy to clean. Don’t pick the boring white tiles that make your home feel like an institution, instead choose something grand and classy without the bruising price tag. Travertine tiles are more colorful than marble with its rosy hue and if you look at travertine floor tiles in stores you’ll see that they come it different textures. They usually have it brushed or smooth. The brushed kind is a great choice for outdoor areas like your veranda or terrace. It usually gets wet due to the rain so you have to watch out for slippery floors. With brushed travertine tiles, you don’t have to worry about those as they provide good traction.
The only bad thing with travertine floor tiles is that they are quite difficult to maintain. You have to choose the right cleaning agents and chemicals to use to preserve you tiles. Don’t worry though, the manufacturer already provides a list of cleaning agents for you to use when you buy it so it won’t lose its color and shine.
